Dear Uncle Phog: I was very glad to have your letter of the 19th. Much has happened since I saw you in the winter, and I am now living in Alton, About the first of May, I received an offer from the Alton Clinic to do their Obstetrics and Gynecology on a contract basis for three years, with a partnership at the end of that time. I investigated from every angle, and submitted the proposition to Dr. Curtis who, in turn, investigated the set-up. We found nothing out of line, but on the contrary, a rather exceptional opportunity. In addition I have a teaching position at Washington U. (Barnes and St. Louis Maternity Hospitals) so I feel that I am happily situated. A very important factor is the freedom from economic pressure. I wrote Dr. Needles about the equipment you mentioned, and he feels that he can do some good on getting the right price. I furnished him with all serial numbers and descriptions, so you will doubt- less be hearing from him at an early date, I was delighted to hear of Jane's approach- ing marriage, and wish her every happiness. I predict a brilliant career for Bobby at the University of Pennsylvania, and certainly approve his choice of schools. With all good wishes for you and the fant Hubert L. Allen, M.D. family,
