THE UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS UNIVERSITY EXTENSION DIVISION LAWRENCE OFFICE OF THE DIRECTOR January 3, 1941. Dr. F. ©. Allen, Head, Dept. of Physical Education, 105 Robinson Gymnasium. Dear Phog: Enroute to Washington last Sunday, I picked up a copy of the Columbus, Ohio, paper on the train and noticed your name staring at me in bold face type from the front page of the sports section. I thought that you might be interested in seeing that your name gains some circulation even in the larger towns in which the Big Ten schools are located. Congratulations on the outcome of the game with Loyola last night; also the splendid defense of Phog Allen and the K. U. team which appeared on the sports page of The Times this moming. From the experience of previous years, all of us realize that the results of these pre-season games have little bearing on the kind of basketball which the team will play during the season. As a matter of fact, experience would indicate that you will have a winner before the season is very far advanced. Congratulations and best wishes! Cordially yours, outdo Sh ghar — Director. HGI-DR
