Bobby got his elbow hurt in the Kansas State game and I am
afraid he is lost to our team against Nebraska tonight at Lincolne He can
herdly use his arm at all although he did stay up until 2 o'clock Friday
morning studying Physical Chemistrye Your Grandmother is terribly worried
about him and thinks perhaps thet he will not survive the basketball season.
I believe he will, however, beceuse he loves the geme and without basketball,
his life would not be complte, I feele Our team has done much better than
I had ever hoped so whatever they do from now on out is more than I hoped

You have undoubtedly seen in recent issues of both
the Kansan and The Graduate Magazine of the appointment of
the Lindley Memorial Lectureship Committee, whose chairman
is Roy Roberts, editor of the Kansas City Star.

The committee has carried on a mail campaign among
their owm acquaintances who were also friends of the late
Chancellor. The committee felt that the best memorial for
Chancellor Lindley would be a fund which would perpetuate
through a lectureship his plan of "The Human Situation" and

"Plan for Living",

The completion of this fund will be announced as
one of the 75th anniversary gifts to the University. Inas—
mich as a part of the fund has already been subscribed and
that it will become a reality, we are addressing this communi-
cation to you to give you the opportunity of joining in a
combined gift from the faculty and members of the administra-
tive staff, You may make your check payable to the Kansas

University Endowment Association, which agency will be trustee
for the fund, and send your"gift along direct to the Endowment
Association in the enclosed envelope.

At a special meeting of the Board of Directors of The
Commonwealth Lawrence Theatre Corporation on July 12, 1941, action
was taken to make a further reduction of the principal of the out-
standing Preferred Stock of the company in the amount of $15.00
per share, vhich when paid will reduce the outstanding value of
each share to $70.00.

In order to qualify and receive this money it will be
necessary for you to deliver your certificate or certificates
evidencing the Preferred Stock owned by you to the office of the
company in the Jayhavker Theatre, Lavrence, Kansas, before July 31,
1941, in order that there may be stamped on such certificate or
certificates a notation to the effect that the value thereof has
been further reduced to $70.00 per share by the payment of a
liquidating dividend.

Till you therefore kindly deliver to us the certificate
or certificates held by you for the purpose aforesaid. Such
certificate or certificates will be returned to you, together with
your liquidating dividend after such certificate or certificates
have been properly stamped,

Insurance Company, Claimant's Affidavit Accident. I would
gladly have had this notarized but you told me that it was
not necessary.

When I was speaking to you the other day, we.
talked about basketball coaching and I forgot to mention to
you the fact that I was coaching baseball this spring and the last
date of our game with Kansas Aggies was May 23rd and 24th, and with
Towa State here, May 26th and 27th. So the partial disability should
run until May 27th. I was impeded from coaching baseball in the same.
capacity as I was handicapped in coaching basketball.

| If you desire me to fill out another blank, please
mail me one and I will be glad to fill it out for you.

I want out yesterday endeavoring to play golf
and my leg bothered me so much that I could nardly finish the game.
I am continuing to take treatments and may decide on an operation
although I would like to prevent it. The knee certainly is not
improving and I am continuing with my treatments and expect T will.
It is more of a permanent injury than it is a temporary one.

I am mailing you the bills I received from Dr. A. de.
Anderson and from Drs. Bice and Eustace. You may send them a
check at your convenience. I will accept settlement in full if paid
up to and including May 27th, 1941.
