the following resolution was approved by the Kansas State Board ef Health

at a special meeting held in Topeka on Novenber 22, 1939:

RES OLUTION

 

The Kansas State Board of Health hereby instructs the state laboratories
to furnish laboratory service for diagnosis of all commmnicable diseases at
public expense to all state and county boards of social welfare clients, social
security act clients, ‘lorks Progress Administration clients, and to all other
types of public assistance clients; to all inmates or patients of federel,
state, county, or municipal institutions and homes: end to all other residents
of the State of Kansas who find it difficult or impossible to pay the costs of
laboratory service of this kind in the usual and customary menner.

In order to assist in the provision of this service, the Board has ap-
proved the following request form which will be placed in use effective
January @, 19h0.

The Kansas State Board of Health Laboratory

I do hereby certify thet it will be difficult or impossible for (nome)

and customary menner. J request therefore, that this test be made for me
without charge by the Kensas Stete Board of Health Laboratory.

The Bor.rd, also, instructs the State Laboratories to provide laboratory
service at puovlic expense and without requirements of request forms, to all
county and city health officers, all employees of the Kenses State Board of
Hes.lth, and all steff members of federal, state, county ond municipal insti-
tutions and homes, who desire to utilize the services of the state laborotories
in conjunction with their official duty.

The Bonrd feels, however, that it should not provide services of this kind
at taxpayers' expense to persons eble to provide for thomselves. Since for
prectical reasons the Board must leave the determination of this question to
the physicions of the state, it respectfully requests the cooperation of oll
physicians in making certein thot state laboratory services are furnished only
to persons within the above appraved categories,

All regulations in conflict herewith are revoked.
