Mr. Carl Postlethwaite, Hall Brothers, Inc., Grand Ave. at MoGee and 25th, Kansas City, Mo. Dear Pos ty: I took your letter to Mr. Harl Falkenstien, financial secretary of the Athletic Association, and he suggests that you get your tickets in Kansas City where you will be able to get a much better choice of seats. He had re- servations here for more tickets than were sent him. He says tickets may be purchased at the Ruppert Stadium, Municipal Auditorium, and Vaughn Clothing Company, in Kansas City, Kansas. Really, you will be in much better position to get your seats in Kansas City now than you would by waiting for us to get them end then peddle them back to you. Since the major portion of the crowd will come from Kansas City they are keeping most of the tickets there. hoy I talked over the phone this morning to Mr. Al Haas, in Kansas City, and he said four tickets is generally supposed to be the limit. However, I suggest you call him (Victor 6450) and you might talk him into letting you have a couple more. a: Very sincerely yours, Direotor of Physical Education, FOA:AH Varsity Basketball Coach, KANSAS CITY NEW YORK IES GRAND AVENUE AND MCGEE AT TWENTY-FIFTH KANSAS CITY October 23, 1944 Mr. Phog Allen Director of Athletics, Kansas University, Lawrence, Kanses Dear Phog: Would it be possible to sec- ure six tickets for the Missouri - Kansas game? I was substitute forward on the old Mason-Sample forward combination. Iv-was captain of the Baker Univ team in 1910. Dear Coach Parrish: I am sending you the diagrams of the backboard anil the shooting lanes. These are ideas that you may elaborate upon in any way that appeals to you. "Good field - no hit", was the report made by the Cuban, Gonzales, the scout for the Cards. He is a great seout and a great card. I assure you that I too enjoyed being with the achool. And as for "Little Bill" Miller, ~- well, he is still “Little 5111" to me. But I still maintain I heve no personal differences with hin. Allen, University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas, Dear Dr. Allen; In one of your sessions at the Kansas State High Sehool Activities Association Coaching Sehool, you stated that you would send the plans necessary for the diagramming of the backboard for shooting practice, to any one who would write te you asking for it. I believe that the increased accuracy it will bring to my boys may spell the difference between a win or a loss om numerous ocassions, since we have been somewhat like the baseball rookie that was the subject of this report from the scout," good field -- no hit". I enjoyed your lectures in the coaching sehool very much, and feel that I ean give my boys a better eoaching job this winter. Was glad to hear that you and "Little Bill" Miller had finally come to a complete understanding ?? Thanking you very much, I remain ip Rukh Admire Rural High School, October 10, 1944. President E. C. Pontius, University of Tulse, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Dear President Pontius: i desire to thank you for yow generous hospitality extended by you and Mrs. Pontius to Mrs. Allen and me. You were very gracious, and although we could not enjoy the performance of our boys, which seriously was up to my expectations, by comparison ieft the enthusiasm for Kansas rather dwarfed for Kansas alumi; however, they did as well as I expected, and Coach Frnka's gentility and consideration for ow boys was greatly appreciated. I still think you are the best college foutbali president in the United States! And Henry Frnka rates way high in my estimation as a gentleman and a coach. Agntin 3 Cunte yen Ee Obie so much time from your is life to show the Allens your unexcelled hospitality of your school and your family. Pitser, 701 West High Street, Springfield, Ohio. — Dear Elwood and Mrs. P. Mrs. Allen and I both are very happy for you, and the mother and the young son are getting along famously well. This “doo's bag” is a very clever arrangement. Bobby Allen saw it and smiled. He just returned from Philadelphia where he obtained his M.D. degree from the medical college there. He was president of his class, and yesterday we received another letter stating thet Beb had been made chairman of the 1944 alumi ‘medical association. _* is for his a class. Kansas City, Kansas. Dear Dr. Peete: I was in Mr. Quigley's office this morning and Earl Falkenstien handed me an envelope which I trust is self-explanatory. Roy Hamey told Earl that you left these three one dollar bills and apparently picked up the 807 from your $20.00 bill. Earl wanted to know if I would see you soon and I told him I hoped so, but I did not know exactly when. Therefore, I am mailing it to you in this envelope. Life still keeps up a pretty strenuous tattoo for me, but I hope to be seeing you in the near future. Sometime in the not too distant future I am going to be your self-invited guest at your dinner table. I don't know when it will be, but I am counting on it. Jean and Bob are home from Philadelphia, and Bob is looking a little thin but is getting some rest and I sm sure that it will not be long until he will get back his usual zip and pep. Mary left for Palo Alto Sunday night at 12:36. Jane is still with us and seems to be enjoying her stay at home, as we certainly are enjoying having her with us. Mit, Isabelle and Judy come over for evening dinner and we have had quite a seance in the Allen house~- hold. Give my kindest regards to your good family.
