Chelsea Avenue Ames KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI February 3rd. LGA 5S Dr. F. GC. Allen University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Doc: In your letter of January 31st. you state that there has been so many changes in thelist of officials that I sent to you that you no longer know whom is working. With the exception of Faye Ferguson in the Missouri-Oklahoma game-sent to Hospital- I don't know 6f any changes made in the officials. Sorry you had a rough game at Lawrence when you played Kansas State; thet should never happen. Lance and Hogue have been assigned to the Kansas-Kansas State game at Manhattan on Feb. 16th. I believe I can assure you that this game will not be rough; unless it should be one of those games that come up sometime in spite of all the fouls the officials call. . We had a thriller with Westport last night. We won 31-30 thereby going into first place in the League without a loss. Four won and three to play. We had a five point lad with less than two minutes to play- that would mean seven or nine points for your team- and in a position to make them play our way. A Westport player knocked the ball out-of-bounds and everyone of the 6000 there knew he had knocked it out except the one official that gave it to Westport; yes, you guessed it they passes in and hit a A4AOfoot shot to get right back into the ball game. It wasn't even a close decision and it came near knocking us right out of the championship race. And to add fuel to my already heated brow with five seconds to play a normal held ball was called, no players on the floor or méxed-up, and without any signal from the officials the Timer stopped the clock until the ball was tapped. I survived the ordeal. I merely state all this to let you know, as though you didn't already know that I too suffer on that bench and am always cognizant of the needed wrok with officials. 3 If you had only called Fritz attention to those small letters at the “ecember games he probably could have made arrangements while here to have them changed. I hope they get fixed up on that. Dick got in the Manual game last week, took one shot and scored one basket. Wish you would drop him a line of encouragement. He is improving nicely but I am sure a word from you would help him a lot. Sorry we can't get far enough out in front to give him a real chance to show his wares. Will probably see you in Lincoln on Feb. 10th. Sincerely yours, — A Ph: eget Sih ah eae AD eS! NG hae iisiag ep eeaa Vs Spe eer Sag
