Dear Phog:

I want to thank you for the splendid letter that you wrote Mother
Lyon in regards to the loss of her husband, Doc Lyon. He thought a let
of you, and I have heard him say more than once that you were the best
basketball coach and knew more about basketball than anyone else he knew
and for that reason and since both Chuck and I have discussed you with him,
Mother Lyon will treasure that letter more than any she received.

Yesterday when we were going through his papers we found a letter
that he had written to the family asking them to carry on and expressing
his wishes as to whom he would like to have as pallbearers. He mentioned
your name, and we were certainly sorry that we didn't contact you. Both
Chuck and I mentioned you but felt like it was an imposition to ask you to
drive to Topeka, However, I want you to know that he felt that way about.
