HOD ss Bes. ESTABLISHED I1ssg GEORGE H. HODGES FRANK HODGES D. R. HALE OLATHE, KANSAS May 20, 1944 Mr. Forest C. Allen, Chairman Douglas County Red Cross War Fund Drive Lawrence, Kansas Dear Mr, Allen: Under date of May 10, Mr. J. N. Ferren, personnel superinten- dent at the Hercules Powder Company, who had charge of the Red Cross War Fund Drive at that plant, advised us that the allotment for the Johnson County chapter was $1213.12, and that a list of the contributors, together with a check for the entire collection at the plant, had been sent to Lawrence to be distributed by that chapter. Today, we have a very urgent letter from Miss Brockett, of the St. Louis office, asking us to remit promptly their portion of our war fund drive and, naturally, we would like to make this in one payment. Would it be possible that your chapter could remit us on receipt of this letter, in the amount of $1213.12 which is due this county from the drive at the Hercules Powder Company plant? Make the check payable to the Johnson County Chapter, American Red Cross. Thanking you in advance for your prompt attention. Yours very truly, ' D. R, Hale, Chairman Johnson County Red Cross War Fund Drive DRH/ms
