In the other drives there were always a few dragging their feet and, in a few cases, nut thumbs down on the Red Cross, But in this drive there wasn't a single person to my knowledge, who didn't come across in some way and make a definite contribution, You will observe that among the Hill rneonle there are over one hundred and fifteen that gave from $10.00 to $100.00, When vou take into consideration that the Hill crowd has had rough sledding in the last few years - that is, most of them haven't seen a raise since before the davs of Munich - their response has been all the more wonderful, Page 2 . There are sore veople that I want to mention for a word of special appreciation and gratitude. High on the list. I want to put Miss Marie Willer and Betty Joe O'Weill, President of the CVC... Miss Miller and Miss O'Neill did a magnificent job. They headed the civilian. student drive after the fizz of the campaign was gone oe raised over a thousand dollars, 7 ay x? T also want to mention Miss Lorna Eeclefield, who ay : freely gave many hours of her time; and Mrs. Paul Haney, yw Oy vids Trene Tice and Miss Phyllis Martin, who volunteered ve OY numerous hours in preparing mails and tabulatine returns, Miss Carolyn Baker, President of Jay-Janes, was a regular — trooper. Again and again she stood ready at a moment's Og notice to cooperate in conducting the special collections, ay Due to the cooperation of the JaysJanes, we collected sev- a eral hundred dollars of silver and folding rionev, All in all, it was a lot of fun and our grand total for the whole community now stands at $4,548.11..
