a J Such experience must have given an understanding and appreciation of the various activities conducted on the playgrounds, in service clubs and community centers; a familiarity with methods of planning, equipping, and maintaining play areas and.facili- ties; an ability to organize people in recreation activities and to train volunteer leaders; an ability to interpret and discuss recreation problems with lay and profes- sional groups. PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS The recreation director must have an outgoing friendly personality, a sense of humor, dignity, poise, and maturity. He must have executive, supervisory, and leadership ability. He must have a high degree of enthusiasm, originality, and flexibility. He must have racial and religious understanding and accept military regulations. He must be able to recognize and accept the fact that Red Cross represents the public in the service to the military bases. He must be able to work harmoniously with other members of the Red Cross staff. He mist have those qualities of appearance, intellect, integrity, and personality which will enable him to work with the Army personnel and maintain their respect and con- fidence.
