Am writing to you to ask a favor at this time,
knowing you are busy and up to your ears in work, neverethe-less I
hope you can do this for me,

I have just finished preparatory training for Officers
Candidate School at Camp Crowder for the Signal Gorps. Now I have
an opportunity of getting into the Air Corps Physical Education
Officers Training School, I would like to have you write me a letter
of recommendation and send it to me as it must be sent in to the :
authorities along with a complete athletic report. to give you some |.

Four years of high school, football, basketball and track at Fairfield,
Iowa. Four years of football and one of track at the University of I
at Iowa City, Iowa. After graduation with a B. A. Degree I played two.
years with the brooklyn Dodgers ('36-'37) in '38 I was at K, U. as you.
reuember and then three years '39-'40-'41 of directing athletics,
physical education and coaching football basketball and track at
western Union College. Inducted into the army July 10, 1942 and from
August 1942 through and including February 1942 I was assistant athlet
director at Vamp Crowder, any suggestions you care to make and any
other contacts I can make will be greatly appreciated,
