William Belt, an instructor in the Depextment of Spanish and an instructor in elementary and advanced fencing in our Department of Physical Education. : _ William Belt graduated from the University in 1939 with an A, 5, degree with a major in Spanish. In 1941 he received his M. A. degree with a major in Spanish and a minor in French. In his extracurricular activities, ath- leties played a dominant part. He participated in all brancles of intramural athletics with distinction. Fencing, of course, was one of his major physical activities. He was an outstanding member of the Fene Team and an officer of the Fencing Club. , | He hag superior qualities of leadership and is blessed with an amiable and engeging personality. He has a fine : physique and knows the word loyalty to an exceptional degree. I have come in very close contact with him as he instructed in our department and found him a high grade teacher and a splendid organizer.
