_I hewe been asked by Calvert Johnson Winter, Je, to
write a testimonial in his behalf. I understand that he
is applying for admission to the National Marine Reserve.

I have known Calvert Winter for at least ten years
and have always found him a most trustworthy and capable

men. At the present time he is a junior in the
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He made his fresh-
man numeral in baseball in 1941, and this year, i942, he
was a menber of the varsity baseball squad.

He is majoring in mathematics, ‘and stood in the upper
ten per cent of his high school graduating class, at =
Lawrence Hencetas High School.

: He im wery clean and serious-minded. He is trust-
worthy and he knows the meaning of loyalty to the nth de-
gree. He is highly intelligent, is cooperative and most
dependable. He is very clean in his personel habits,
being an abstainer from narcotics of all kinds. His
father, who is Professor of Spanish in the University,
has been e mamber of the faculty for a great many yoars.
