His undergraduate work: here was in the fields of social science, edueation and economics. fe made an outstanding record asa gtudent. In the eummor of 1936 he attended New York University working toward the master's degree in recreation. . Mr. Schmidt's athletic experience dates back to his high school days where he participated three years each in foot- ball, basketball and track. then he entered the University of _ Kensas he was a member of the freshman squads in football, basket~ ball and beseball.
