I have a letter from Mr. Ernst A. Uhrlaub of Lawrence, Kansas, in
which he is applying for the position of physical education director
in Sterling College, and he has given me your name as a reference.

Since he seems to have had considerable preparation and experience
I wish you would tell me frankly what you think of his character and
the inspiration or lack of it he would be to young men. We are quite
particular about that in Sterling, and I would appreciate a frank letter.
