Exactly, John. We are going to find it necessary
to have a Board of Recreation as well as a Board

of Education. It is on. its way, and why not
accept it? You know, the school buildings are
locked during vacations, but they should not be.-
Our children are active, snd went to play end
should plar under supervision, This ¢pplies so the
year round program. The school administration
shouldn't be heid accountable, but these school
buildings should be under the supervision of the
Board of Recreation during vacation time just as
they are under the Board of Education during 3chool
time.

Well, getting back to physical education programs,
what would you recommend as a physical education
program for the senior high school?

Well, John, you are doing a fine job out there. 1
think the appointment of "Dad" Perry as Director

of Physical Education and Athletics as a master
stroke. I have always had a great acmiration for
"Qed" Perry as aman, as an organizer, and as a
technician. You are well on your way to a fine job,
and I know that you and your colleagues are going

to have a fine, sane and sensible program worked

out that will be a great credit to Lawrence.

Now, one more question. How do you thin the
physical education program for girls shoujd differ
from that of boys? Do you care to comment on that?

Well, John, we are getting more and more co-recreat~
ive minded all the time. I hardly know how you
mean that question, but certainly there should be

a different treatment. The physical structure of
the woman is not the same as the man. I think We
should get away from the strenuous, athletic type

of games for the woman. I mean by this that there
was a time when we thought of physical education
