Richards, Superintendent Emporia Public Schools Emporia, Kansas Dear Mr. Richards: I am endeavoring to find out when Ernie Vannek, one of our superla- tive basketball coaches, will be released from the navy. He formerly coached at Topeka High School where he made a splendid record. He was head of the Department of Physical Education when he left, but I heard faint rumors that he might be looking for another location. , I know that they were very well pleased with him. I do not know the reason, or if there are any reasons, for the statement that he might not returne However, I'1] find out, and will commmicate with you very shortly. He is by far the very best man that we have if he is not attached. He has a wonderful personality with the boys; he is capable, and he knows how to work with the officers of the school. I would recormend him without any reservations. You will hear from me shortly. Sincerely, Forrest C. Allen, Director Physical Education Varsity Basketball Coach
