Dr. Fr. G, Allen, University of Kansas, Lawrence, ansas. My Dear Doctors I am sorry I missed you at the relays. I didn't get around very well with you gone, but I talked to Iba in regard to your basketball game and the job for Dees. In reference to the basket ball game, we have done some confidental sparring around but Henry can't make any definite committments as he had lines out Tor Purdue. W.S.C and Temple for opening games, in his big -new barn, The barn holding nine thousand people will be ready late in November. Henry knows that your game will fill the house, but he doesn't vant to give you an even split of gate receipts, plus a split on student tickets. He is trying to drive a good bargain. Understand, 1 am not trying to enter into the financial end of this deal, but I just wanted to feel him out to see what he had to offer. He wants the ball game and would give his right arm for it and he cantt go by us. I have suggested that he go to Lawrence to see you. I think it will be a great series and he wants more than a one year contract out of the deal. He wants at least two years. I regard to Dees, when 1! left Brother Iba, the job was Mr. Dees unkess some new politican has shoved some deserving Democrat under Mr, Iba's nose and forced him to take it. He said he proposed to use Dees not only as a trainer, but as ailine coach to help “ox with his varsity which should be right dowm Dees alley and give him the experience he wants. If he is half as good as I have represented him, well okay. f am sure you will hear from Iba at an early date and I want to assure you that the talks I have had with him are in strictest confidence and will not be publicized. Again sorry that I didn't get to see you recently at the relays. Wy regards to you and your family, As ever a friend, © 0 dt. “PAPER IS OUR BUSINESS AND NOT A SIDE LINE”
