UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS HEALTH SERVICE LAWRENCE, KANSAS December 14, 1939 Dr. F. C. Allen Department of Physical Examination University of Kansas Dear Dr. Allen, Enclosed is a list of basket ball players examined and the pathological findings noted. None of them are of great significance. The routine examination of basket ball players included urinalysis and x-ray of the chest, in one case (Mosser) fluoroscopy of the heart and in one case x-ray of the right knee (Hartman). We do not routinely give a chest x-ray with the yearly examinations but have done so on the basket ball players each year to make sure there was no undiscovered heart or lung pathology and as a matter of record. I believe every athlete should have a chest x-ray at the beginning of the season. Sincerely, jal L, Carncteaor Ralph/I. Canuteson, M.D. Director, Health Service RICss Enel,
