I want you to know that I did not go to sleep
immediately after sending my last letter to youe One of
our high school band directors is also director of the
American Legion band of this city. In an attempt to
secure the services of this American Legion band I con-
tacted Mr. Ryder, the director. I was astonished to
find that the musicians' union had refused to permit s
even this band to appear in civic programs. The American
Legion band was scheduled to play at the track meet
Monday night and a few hours before the track meet was
called the American Legion band was removed from the list
and the musicians' union placed a band at the Auditorium.
