My dear Allen:

The thirty-one daily papers outside of Des Moines have
what is known as the Iowa Daily Press Association. At
the end of each football and basketball season we

honor the eighteen players who have made the three all-
state teams. Last year it was held at Iowa City and
this year is to be held at Ames.

George Veenker and I were appointed to see if we could
secure the outstanding man in the United States for the
occasion. Without a dissenting vote and unanimously
two to nothing, we voted for you.

There is a fly in the ointment. Money is available Fd
only for expenses. You could catch the night train f

at Kansas City Thursday night and leave here Friday,
getting home Saturday morning. There will be about Be
two hundred at the banquet including coaching staff &/

from three state schools. The banquet will take place /Y Vevg

from twelve noon to two p.m. Friday, April 8, and . ou
