CORNELL UNIVERSITY ITHACA, NEW YORK DEPARTMENT OF PuysicaL EDUCATION AND ATHLETICS March 30, 1938. JAMES LYNAH DIRECTOR Dr. Forrest Allen Basketball Coach Kansas University Lawrence, Kan. Dear Dr, Allen: I was glad to receive your letter the other day and I want to say that I found your book extreme- ly interesting and helpful to me this season. I am sure that it is the best book on basketball that has ever been on the market. We did not use the zone defense as I planned, because I found that my guards did not have the heichth, particularly after we lost our 6'" center. We used your offense some, early in the season, but found that wetk the seniors we had were better fitted to use our old stuff. We tied for third in our Leasue. Our greatest victory was over Syracuse, an exceptionally good team. I will be in Chicago at the meeting and will enjoy talking with you at that time. Congratulations to you for your championship team and thanking you for your many favors in the past, I remain Sincerely yours, bof Mott J. H, Rowland . shr/1
