UNIVERSITY 6/7393) OF KENTUCKY LEXINGTON - ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT March Nine 13 6 8 Dr. Forrest ©, Allen University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Doctor Allen:. I was glad to get your letter in regard to our trainer. im our new athletic set-up the same trainer that we have had here for the past fourteen years was reemployed, Our situation here is somewhat different than at other schools, We have taken the Athletic Department into the University and have cut out all alumni connections, The Dean of the college is the head of our Department, All head coaches are given the ranking of professors and are members of the University Senate and their tenure of office is the same as a regular professor, I was glad to get such a set-up because under the old system we were fast getting no where, Our football situation got to such a point that it was deplorable, I will tell you more about it when I see you, I have heard of Dees and will be on the look-out for anything that may come up, I know that he is a fine boy and I only regret that we are not in a position to offer him an opportuni- ty. I have been getting along about as well as can be expected, I have discarded my brace and I feel somewhat lost without it, I had some difficulty three weeks ago and was confined to my home for some eight days, At that time the doctors were of the opinion that I would have to have another operation but I am feeling fine again and I may fool them, I plan to come to the National Oonvention in Chicago and if I do I will enjoy visiting with you again, Mrs. Rupp joins me in sending our kindest regards to you and your family, Very sincerely, OME A, F, Rut
