Sept. 25, 1942 Coach Charles L. Summers East Alton-Wood River Community High School Wood River, Illinois Dear Coach Summers, Pardon my negligence in not answering your letter sooner. As soon as your letter came I looked up Giff and told him that I was interested in seeing that he was mede very happy and secure in this place. He said that he was happy regarding everything. I told him then thet I had received a lettér from you and that you were a little concerned about Giff because of what he had written home. We laughed and said, "Maybe I did write a rather blue letter then, but everything is keen now and I am heppy." I wanted you to know, Coach Summers, that I have made special efforts in contacting Giff and have been keeping close to him on all occasions. I assure you that he will not be neglected and I appreciate your letter which showed a fine concern for this young man. He is @ splendid chap. At the present time he is up in the gymnesium working under my son, Milton Allen, who graduated here in 1936 and played on that fine ever-victerious team we had that yeare Milton is studying law and will receive his second degree this summer. He graduated in the School of Business in 1956. I am sure that Giff will be very happy and I am looking forward to working with him at every opportunity. With all good wishes I am Sincerely yours, Director of Physical Education Varsity Basketball Coach
