Dear "Doc":

When I was in Lawrnece last week I was left with
the impression that Maurice Cannady may be drafted into the
Army sometime soon. If Maurice will have to leave’ I would
appreciate it if you would recommend me for his position, or
do you think this advisable? I like my job here but I believe
if I could get a position in Lawrence I would be in a better
place for Dr. Elbel to help me with my graduade work, also I
feel getting into the Lawrence school system would be a big
advancement.

Augusta lost its first game last Friday night (6-0)
to Valley Center. Even though statistics showed that we
outplayed them we lost to a very good team. My team this year
is improved and has a great deal more weight over last year.

I would like to thank you for the job you gave me
the past summer--I really did enjoy doing what little I could
do. I am sorry that I did not get to talk to you Saturday
afternoon, but I hope to be in Lawrence again soon and will
See you at that time.
