J., Dec. 6— Coach Ed Kelleher’s Fordham Rams launched their basketball season to- night by vanquishing St. Petegr’s College of this city in the eleventh meeting of the Jesuit rivals, 36 to 25. Bob Sherry and Captain Dick Fitzgerald paced the Rams with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Be- tween them they tossed in 15 points in the first half to give the Rams a 20-9 lead at the intermission. Tom O’Leary starred for St. Peter’s with 9 points. Held in check for the first five minutes as the score see-sawed to 4-4, the Rams were ahead, 16—6, at the fifteen-minute mark on some fine spot shooting by Fitzgerald and Sherry. Glynn cut Fordham’s lead to 16—9, but Sherry and Fitzgerald retaliated with long shots for a 20-9 lead at the half. . With O’Leary featuring, St. Peter’s cut the Fordham margin to 2T—20 midway in the second half, but two baskets by Savage and an- other by Babich gave the Rams a substantial lead and they breezed in the rest of the way.
