Captain Dick Fitzgerald, the
game’s high scorer with 13 points,
was by far the outstanding Ford-
ham performer. Sophomore Max
Loeffler contributed shifty floor
work. It appeared that the Kings-
men were in better physical condi-
tion and in the final minutes it
was obvious that the Maroon play-
ers were tired.

A see-saw opening half, which
wound up with Brooklyn on top,
18—16, after the lead had alternat-
ed from time to time, gave evidence
of what was to follow. What little
finesse was shown in this fast-moy-
ing fray came from the Kingsmen.
Approximately six minutes from
the end Loeffler and Babich came
through with a pair of field goals
that brought the Rams the lead at
32—31, but for the rest of the way
the losers were limited to a single
field goal by Sherry, a spectacular
one-hand effort from the side of
the court.

An angle set shot by Bernie Gus-
soff sent.the Kingsmen ahead at
3332. Then Kasner hit the target:
in a fine pivot play and’ Lou Lubin
added’a free throw that made it
36—32. At this stage Sherry broke
through. Then, as Fordham strove
desperately to regain possession,
Joe Hershkowitz curled in the
clincher.

In the preliminary encounter the
Fordham cubs overwhelmed the
University Club of Leonia, N. J.,

Musicant Rates Team Highly

Musicant, now in his fifth year
as coach at Brooklyn College, avers
that this is the best aggregation he
has had there. Although a bit rough
around the edges, it has the ability
to make things interesting for the
other metropolitan quintets.

Kasner and Mariaschin rate
among the better set-shot artists
in the district. When either is ‘‘on’’
Brooklyn is a definite threat
against any one,

had several of his players with him.
