June 18th, 1941 Mr. Lee Stanford Attorney at Lew Concordia, Sansas Dear Leet It seens if I can never catch up on my correspondences the springtime rolls along, especially if I coach baseball following my basketball SCASON. % I was very buey in the Grapefruit and Lettuce League telling the people why we didn't win the Championship outerighte hen your letter came, if we had had available people, I would have wired you or dropped you @ note. But, each day I would postpone the letter thinking I would write you @ letter of greeting as well as the answers to the ques- tions that you desired. We had only one real good baseball player and that was Knute Forrest. He is playing with the Iola Ban Johnson League Team. I coached the baseball team this year after it had been held by two other football coaches, neither of . whom had ever played baseball before and naturally it had run down considerably. And, although we won more games ~ . than we have in the last five years, we had a week tean, never-the-liess, comparatively speaking. Lee, I promise to do better if you write me again. And if you are in need again, I'll endavor to help you out more then 1 was able to this time. With all good wishes, I an, Sincerely yours, Director of Physical Bducation 5 and Recreation-Varsity Basketball FOArre and Baseball Coach.
