SELLENS, Director Russe.., KAnsAs August 19, 1940 Mr. Forrest C. Allen c/o University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Doc: I am sorry to be so late in answering your letter of August 6th, but I have been in Colorado with my Mother the past two weeks and just returned last night. Glenn St. Aubyn is planning to enter the University this fall and may turn out to be an asset to your team. His morals are good, being free from nicotine and liquor. He grew fast and was quite awkward in basketball but im- proved a great deal his last two years. He works hard to overcome his faults and is a willing subject to good ad- vice. He is 6'3" tall and weighs approximately 170 lbs. He was, as Coach Elliott has written you, one of the out- standing boys in the senior class and very popular with his classmates and teachers. He will have to work his own way through school as his folks are not financially able to give him much help. However, he is a responsible boy and more than willing to work, so with the determination he has to obtain an edu- cation I feel in my own mind that he will succeed. In fact he has made onetrip to Lawrence looking for possi- bilities of a job when school begins this fall. He has already made the necessary arrangements to stay in one of the new men's dormitories so he is that far along. Then too, I recommended him to Carl Clifton for a job there and mentioned Paul Rogers. Perhaps he could get a clean- ing concession from Paul for ‘the dormitory where he will be placed, or even better a job in his establishment. I had not writtén about him as I knew he had made up his mind to go to the University and thought it would be less trouble to you at present to let him rustle a little for himself and prove that he really intends to make good. Trusting this is the information desired, I remain 3 Yours truly, Bret,
