Alien University of Kansas Dear Dr. Allen: I have been searching diligently for a job for some two months. Evidently I have been looking in the wrong place. I don't like to impose upon you, for I know you must have quite a task on your hands serving as an employment bureau for your coaches who are graduated, but I remembered that you mentioned last winter you might be able to give me a little help here and there toward finding something to do. All I want is a chance to step in with some paper or press association and show them what I can do. I would certainly appreciate it if, with- out too much trouble, you could ask such good friends as C.E. McBride or Spike Claassen to consider me for the first opening they have. And of course there are any number of other sports editors whom:you know very well that might possibly have an opening one of these days. I should like to work with Jack Copeland on the Beacon or Pete Lightner on the Ragle, if you could help me out down Wichita way. There isn't a whole lot I can do to repay you for such a favor as this, Dr. Allen, but I'tll promise you that if you can get me the opportunity, Itll prove to the boys who know that you are as good a judge of sports writing talent as you are of basketball talent. We turned our plant over to you and hope every- thing we did was entirely satisfactory. You surely had one great tournament, which was evidenced by the sell-out. I certainly did en- joy all the games. Sorry 1 didn’t get to see you - but you were too busy to be bothered. You had a great team and, of course, it was dis- appointing that we couldn't carry off the final honors - looked to me like a situation where we bumped into an outfit that on that night was just red hot. However, we can all be very proud of the Kansas team - and, Phog, that boy of yours is one swell youngster. I know you are very proud of hin. Thanks so much for remembering us, and I do hope sometime when you are down here you will drop in. It's been a long time since we've visited together. Haw My Clubs Are Handmade to Fit Your Swing It is a natural question for you to ask: “How can you so accurately design clubs that you are able to guarantee they will fit my swing?” To this the best answer is that for many years we have been successfully doing this very thing. DURING MORE THAN 20 YEARS WE HAVE SATISFIED THOUSANDS OF PARTI- CULAR GOLFERS ALL OVER THE WORLD, with our clubs handmade to their individual specifications. And here’s how: You will notice that in this chart we ask only for several simple measure- ments and a few questions that are easy to answer. From this information, we determine the specifications, and DESIGN THE CLUBS FOR YOUR INDIVID- UAL SWING. Many golf clubs have been selected (supposedly fitted) to in- dividual needs on consideration of length and weight only. This is all right as far as it goes, but it is only two-ninths complete. TO BE CORRECT FOR YOUR SWING, YOUR CLUBS MUST BE RIGHT FOR YOU IN EACH OF THE FOLLOWING NINE FUNDAMENTAL MEASUREMENTS: 1. Weight of Club Head. 2. Flexibility of Shaft. 3. Length of Shaft. 4. Swinging Balance. 5. Total Weight. 6. Loft of Face. 7. Angle of Face With Shaft. 8. Lie of Club. 9. Size and Taper of Grip. These determining factors distinguish Kenneth Smith Clubs, handmade to fit your swing. They are each varied to personal requirements. Your accurate, com- plete information, coupled with the long experience of our skilled craftsmen makes possible this service that is available only when you send in the chart ordering Kenneth Smith golf clubs handmade to fit your swing. GET YOUR MONEY’S WORTH When you pay your good money for a set of golf clubs, you are entitled not only to good clubs—substantial, well balanced and attractive—but also YOU ARE ENTITLED TO GOLF CLUBS THAT FIT YOUR SWING. Only clubs that are suited to your natural style of play enable you to score your best. Every championship golfer knows this. Yet of all the different brands of clubs available ONLY KENNETH SMITH CLUBS ARE MADE FOR AND GUARANTEED “TO FIT YOUR SWING”—made correctly in each of the nine fundamental measurements.
