ERNST F. PIHLBLAD, PRESIDENT EMORY LINDQUIST, VICE PRESIDENT JENS STENSAAS, TREASURER OFFICE OF ADMINISTRATION BETHANY COLLEGE LINDSBORG, KANSAS November 24, 1957 Dr. F. CG. Alten, University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas. Dear Doc: In accordance with our telephone conversation today, I am sending you the newspaper clipping from the Wichita Hagle. I do not know anything about the situation there but thought it might not do any harm to try. I have no idea who to write to unless it would be H. D. Stallings, the new Athletic Director. From this clipping one might get the idea that it is sort of a "hot" spet for a coack but I have been riding on a bed of hot coals for the last year or so, and can take it. Let me know what you think would be the best approach and the best way to get results. I wouldilike to have a long talk with you during amas vacation if you have a little time to spare. 1 am very sorry I cannot see you this week but due to the financial standing of Bethany College (and the Coach) I must stay home. Give my regards to lirs. Allen and the family. Hoping to see you soon, I remain Sincerely yours, lptnn sdallegiaillc Elmer Schaake, P. S. My little twenty-one pound fullback will be Ali-American material in several seasons.
