| It was a Gelight to have a visit
with you and Mra, Spotts when you were in Lawrence.
I was sorry indeed that I was so rushed at the noon
hour when we took luncheon together at the Phi Psi

My married son, Milton, ran in for
a few hours from his home at Russell, Aansas, and I
had to hasten back home to have a short visit with
him before he left that afternoon. I am mentioning
these facts to explain to you why I absented myself

so guickly.

: I an sorry that we could not have
had you and Urs, Spotts come to the house, but
reading the galley proof of my new book which came
from New York just at that time, combined with the
sehool duties for our youngsters in high school and
the University, kept me moving rather rapidly.

eecupied a fulsome time the first few weeks.

I trust that your visit east was
both pleasant and profitable, it meant a lot to me
to have an opportunity to visit with you and irs,
