MIDWESTERN INTERCOLLEGIATE OFFICIALS ASSOCIATION With basketball being near at hand, our Association has decided to include e basketball officials' clinic to be conducted at the inter- yvretation meeting which is to be held in Kansas City, on the week-end of December 9, and 10. I know that two schools, Nebraska and Kansas State, are play- ing games on December 9, and it may be thet other schools in the Big Six and Missouri Valley have scheduled games on this date. With this in mind, we propose to have e besketball officials' clinic on Sunday after- noon, December 10, beginning at 2:00 P.M. Our Officials' Association wes primarily organized for foot- ball officials, end during the past season we endeavored to accomplish: To encourage closer cooperation between officials. To have a finer relationship between coaches and officiels. To reise the standard of officiating. Uniform interpretation and consistency. The exchange of ideas and experiences so as to improve officiating. To formulate a code of ethics. To dignify our profession. CN Og, i nn, On, gy, NO OF f& ON ND eH — ee ne ee During the footbell clinic held in Kansas City in the early part of September, meimbers of our Association contributed and conducted the greater part of this interpretation meeting. For the foothall sea- son, the Big Six and Missouri Valley coaches adopted several interpreta- tions which we discussed with them for a closer understending so we would know exactly what they had in mind. We studied these interpreta- tions carefully and made known to every official the interpretations as adopted by both the Missouri Valley and the Big Six. A number of football officiels are also basketball officials and they feel that the samc results may be accomplished if we extend our Association to include besketball officiating. I should like very much to get your reaction to this proposed idea.
