A Brief Sketch— Dr. Charles E. Barker was born in Bur- lingame, Kansas, and was educated at Denison (Ohio) University and the University of Chi- cago. He received an honorary doctor's degree from Ohio Northern University at Ada, Ohio. In 1905 he began his career as a specialist in the principles of health and right living and became famed as physical instructor to Wil- liam Howard Taft during his four years as president of the United States. Dr. Barker has been on the lecture platform since 1913 and has been speaking under the auspices of Rotary International since 1919. He has delivered addresses in more than 2,500 North American communities to audi- ences totaling more than 4,500,000 adults and 4,000,000 high school and college students. Dr. Barker resides in Grand Rapids, Michi- gan, where he has been a member of the Rotary Club since 1921.
