I deeply appreciate the opportunity you have offered me, My chief ambition has been to obtain a college education and to play college basketball. Although the University of Kansas has no scholarships, this does not in any way, lessen my desire to obtain a degrees. I am 20 years old and have graduated in 1942 fron Jesuit High School of New Orleans. After graduation I was employed by Farm Credit Administration as il clerk for eleven months. Since the Army rejected me for bronchial asthma, resigned to take a job in an essential industry, At Tulane University I received a Government KE. M. S. W. T,. course in Aircraft Drafting. The course consisted of 496 actual board hours, During twelve months at Higgins Aircraft, Inc. I have worked in the capacities of Draftsman, esis Man, Shop Liaison Engineer and ss Engineering Loft Coordinator. I do need financial help to realize my ambition. Financial help to the extent that I will have to work to earn all my expenses while I am attending — Kansas University. { A | I am willing to work at any job you are able to secure for me. As you Wy have stated in your letter, if it is possible to obtain a job where my drafting © ability will be used, this would be preferred. About my basketball, for the past seven years I have played on indepen- dent, industrial and S,A.A.U. teams, I feel that it would be @ privilege and @ leasure to play basketball under yous. If, at your own convenience, you will write and inform me of tuition fees, and also cost of room and board, I will be deéply grateful.
