seit POST OFFICE NEW ORLEANS 6, LA BOX 32. ; Ue Sin te e Dr. "Phog" Allen University of Kansas lawrence, Kansas Dear Dr. Allen: In view of the fact that I am a former student of the University of Missouri, and a great admirer of yours, in spite of the many defeats handed Missouri by your teams on the basketball court, I'm taking the liberty of writing you to find out some information. At the present time, I am the Athletic Director of this plant. Before coming to New Orleans, I worked with Larry Winn, Jr., whom I believe you know very well, at North American Aviation in Kansas City. To get to the point - There is a boy employed by this company who plans to attend college this fall. He's 18, and l-F because of asthms. The asthma seldom bothers him, but still he has it, and that is enough to keep him out of the services, He is a fine potential basketball player, and under the right teaching and super-~ vision, could turn into a great basektball player. His heart and soul is in every game, and that, in my opinion, goes @ long way in making a basketball pleyer. He would welcome the train- ing I know you give your boys. This boy, while he has saved some money, would need the assistance of a scholarship or some job arrangement. He is employed here as a draftsman, and plens to continue this as an Engineering student.
