talking to Drs F, C. (Phog) Allen regarding
some grading worke He mentioned that he would
like very mich to have your son come to KU and
make the basket~ball team. I was not asked to —
write you but sitting here in the office today, —
I came to the conclusion that I would like to
have you know a dad's feeling toward Dre Allen.
As you lmow, my boy Bill has been at KU four years.

uring that time he participated in several forms
of athletics under Allen and now has some class under
hime One summer, BLll decided to go to summer school —
end I lmow for no other reason than to be with Phog. .
I have never heard Bill say anything but the best
about Allen and I lmow he is a clean man in every

want our boys around such men. I feel sure that ,
should Jimay want to work at KU that he could get 35¢
an hour for what work he could do without jeopardizing
his school work. You know that a boy at makes
contacts that afterwerds helps him a great deal in
life and business and I think that you will agree
that KU has many, many outstanding craduates. I
don't mow 1f Jim expects to play both football as
well as basket ball but if he dees he is in for a
hard ride at any school. I have always felt that
if a boy plays basket ball and does the job well,
he needs the other time for "bull sessions" with
his friends. Phog - has any but championship
teams and what boy doesn't want to belong to such
