oo Ofte DRY GOODS, FURNISHINGS, SHOES STAFFORD, KANSAS July 23, 1941 Mr. Forrest CG. Allen University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Mr. Allen; There are a couple of good students coming out of Stafford High School this year and both expect and want to attend college, Both were star football end basketball players here last year and at least one of them is interested in attending Ke Use Neather, have enough money to go to a sheool like K. U. without some assistance in the way of a jobe The boy whom I think you would probably be the most interested in and who is most interested in Ke Us. is Jim Priess who works here for me in the store. He was the High School Honor man this year, has only $150.90 saved to start to school, is a brilliant student and thus capable of working his way if given a job, He is six foot, 18years old, and although a very outstanding end in football , my personal apinion is that with proper instruction would develop into en outstanding Basketball player. His temperment end ability is such that 1 believe that he is the type of boy you would be interested in. The other boy, Wendell Bagley is also a very good boy , not quite as outstanding a student, has more financial backing, and in my opinion could go to Wichtha U. md make the football team this year due to his very fine passing ability. He also played very good baskeball but dont believe he has nearly the potentialities that the other boy has here. Doesnt lean toward K. Ue. so much but believe that he could be interested and in event you could get hhm up there am quite sure that you would be well pleased with his possabilities, _ Both of these boys are good clean fellows, both have been offéred a chance to go to Wichita, nothing big but enough to give them'an opportunity to work their way through. . Wish you would make inquiry and try and get something done soon, Mano Stukey, high gehool coach may have contacted you about them, but something ‘definite should be done soon, A "394A Max Ont jes Graduate Be.
