August dy 1941. Mr. Max Ontjes, Stafford, Kansas. Dear Max: Thank you for your good letter of July 22 giving me information regarding Jim Priess and Wendell Bagley. You can tell Jim Priess for me that if he cares to enter the University we will give him work at 35ยข an hour which should make him an averate of $18 to $20 a month. ife are not doing this because he is en athlete, because we have many boys here in the Physical Education Department who are not University of Kansas should strive to and brilliant students in the State of Kansas. then it certainly is my desire to help hin. Of course, if he goes out for athletics naturally we are interested in him, but we are not giving him a job to entice him into our basketball realm. Please tell Wendell Bagley that we would be mighty happy to heave him here at the University of Kansas, Wr. Victor Hurt, our assistant football coach, happens not to be in tow at the present moment, but I will show this letter to him with the _ hope that he will write you concerning Wendell end Jim. I have a very high regard for Mano Stukey, who is one of my personal friends. Mano is a good judge of athletic talent and human nature, and if Mano says they are 0.K., =< they are 0. K. I should like to have you tell me what the boys desire to major in. If we could send them a catalog or any other information that they would desire 2t will be a pleasure for us to do so. Or better yet, if you could get Jim or Wendell to write me telling what they desire in the way of an education we will be very glad to render any service at our command. And too, if they need a job we will be glad to give them a job. Most of our boys ad "4 =4 Reongsase enka Asstt Pea ORE AT
