Dear Mr, Allen:

I received your letter and the copy of the one that you sent
to Dick. Thank you for such a grand and encouraging letter.
Dick was so thrilled, Mother wrote that he couldn't even keep
the tears back--Dick probably wouldn't like for you to know
that. But it meant that much to me too, and I mean it.

I thought of coming in to see you again, but know how busy
you are. That is why I am writing this letter. I hope that
Dick will get a chance to hold the ball 2nd maybe, as he said,
in ten years he can show "Phog” that he can at least try.

He can come up for the Relays---you will undoubtedly hear from
him. Thank you again for your kindness.
