April 18, 1940. Mre Fe Ceo Allen, University of Kansas, lewrence, Kansase Dear Doge If it doesn't rain Saturday I am going to bring along a tall skinny boy by the name of Jim Hamilton, who is a basket ball player of considerable merit in Class B highschool. He was the hot-shot on the Weir City basket ball team and bids fair, I think, to become. a very fine prospective University athlete. He is a Senior but con- templates taking graduate work at Pittsburg High this coming year because of his agee He is only 17, about 6' tall and weighs about 150#, so you can see he isn't et all developed yet. Another year will add considerable to his physical fitnesse There is also a boy from here by the name of Jack Broadhurst _ who will go with the Pittsburg High track team to compete Friday in the highschool meet. He is a fair boy, I think, and would be worth meeting and telking toe I saw him play once and, of course, am not much of a judge of basket ball pleyers, however, he was the spark plug of the Pittsburg team and ranked well in the Southeastern Kansas League, in fact, he was picked as center, I believe, on the All Teeme I likely won't be in until after lunch and will keep my eyes out for you down at the fielde I want you to meet young Hamilton because he is a very fine kid and undoubtedly will go to Kansas in the fall of ‘41. Best regards. Cordially,
