FRED HILL CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL JESSIE M. TOWNE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL OMAHA, NEBRASKA ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL CH82-8-37-8M JOSEPH G. MASTERS, PRINCIPAL April 21, 1939 Doctor F. A. Allen Head Basketball Coach Kansas University Lawrence, Kansas Dear Coach: I have a boy, Jim Kriss, who has played basketball for me here at Central High School for the last three years. He has been an all-city player two years and this past season won all-state recognition. He is seventeen years of age, is six feet tall, weighs one hundred sixty pounds and, I think, has the makings of a great college basketball player. [I have talked to him about going to school and suggested to him that I was going to write to you to see if you were in- terested in him. I would like very much to have him play basketball under your teaching. He was a high scorer in the inter- city league this past year. He does not expect to attend Nebraska University under any circumstances, so I want youto feel that, if you are interested in him, you will not take’‘Away from Nebraska. It is more or less through my interests that I am writing to you, hoping that you might be able to give him an N.Y.A. job or some other kind of a job, where he would earn at least part of his way. He could afford to pay either his board and room or books and tuition but would not have enough money to pay his entire expen- ses. I would appreciate anything that you might do, and may I hear from you in regard to him? Sincerely yours, F. — FYK :EF Director of Athletics
