JAMES ROSS, PRES. LOY N. ROBERTS, SEcy. JESSE VAUGHN, TREAS. : W. R. SEWELL, SUPERINTENDENT = e Public Schools ESSEX CONSOLIDATED DISTRICT ESSEX, MISSOURI February 20, 1939 Coach Forrest Allen University of Kansas Lawrence, Kansas Dear Coach Allens: I was very much pleased to receive your answer concerning ~——-Andreu_Goedert oe this school, and am glad to be able to fur- nish you w he information you desire. Andrew's father is a barber in this town and has a family of ten children. However, being a good business man he has managed to keep these children in school every day. Andrew has an Ne. Y. A- job on which he has worked for the past two school years. From this you can see that the boy will need some kind of employment in order to get through college. I assure you that he is a hard worker and will be easy to satisfy since he is very anxious to graduate from college. Concerning his academic excellence, his semester grades for the first seven semesters in high school are 10 C's and 18 B's. Two of his classes have been under me, and I am certain that he is industrious and intelligent enough to have no scholastic difficulties. Another point I would like to stress is that he is a dandy baseball player, infield or outfield, and any information you would like concerning his baseball playing could be secured from the Himmelberger-Harrison Lumber Company of Morehouse, Missouri, with whose team he played last summer. I would appreciate any reply you might make, and you can be assured of my full cooperation in any attempt to enroll this boy at your school. I firmly believe that he would make a good student and be an asset to your ball team. Very sincerely yours, Wilson «she Basketball Coach.
