Dear Dr. Allen:

I am writing this letter in the interests of a
young man by the name of Carl Herring, who has
been employed here by our company in order to
enable him to complete his work at the Coffeyville
Junior pers eee-

He is a young man of fine character, energetic

and ambitious, and desires now to try to locate
himself in some kind of work at Lawrence in or-
cer to finish up for his degree at Kansas Univer-
sity. He is well above average as a tennis player
and played on the junior college team here up
until this year. He was unable to play on account
of his work. |

I realize that you have many calls from over the
state in order to help worthy young people, and

I hesitate to write you, but my feeling is that
this is an exceptionally worthy case, and I am
going to impose on your friendship to that extent.
I know that if you can do anything that you will.

He is a friend of a man by the name of R. W. Myers,
who is part-time instructor at Kansas University,
and is continuing his work in the K. U. Medical
School for his M.D. He will probably go to Lawrence
some time this spring to see Mr. Myers, and if it

is agreeable with you, he will ante on you at that
time.
