OSTENBERG, DEAN Coffeyville, Kansas May 1, 19359 610 Lineoln Coffeyville, Kansas Dr. Forrest ¢, Alien Director of Athletics University of Kansas Dear Dr. Allen, Mr. Paul Cannady, Personel Direetor of the O. ©. S., called me this morning to tell me that he had received a letter from you about my possibilities at Kansas University next year. I wish to thank you for the interest which you have shown in regard to me and I will eppreciate any help or advice thet you might offer. My athletics in Coffeyville Junior College have been somewhat limited duc to the fact that I have been working a great deal and have had little time. I have played both foot-ball and basket-ball, but my interest centers around tennis. It might interest you to know that Clifford Jamés Campbell, who I believe played basket-ball and tennis under your direction about twelve years ago, taught me to play tennis. Mr. Campbell is a very good friend of my family. He lived with us for three years in Okmulgee, OCkla., after he grad- uated from Kansas University. I will appreciate any suggestions you have or if you would like to see me personally I ean arrange to go to Lawrence at your convenience. Thanking-you again for your interest, I remain Carl Herring
