HARRISON BROTHERS, AGENTS DOWNS, KANSAS June 2, 1939. Dr. Forrest C. Allen University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas. Dear "Phog" :— Just a short easily read note to let you know that I haven't had time to get any word to Vance Hall since receiving your very nice letter. He left the Tuesday after Graduation for Texas to work and grow on his Uncle's ranch there. Other coaches will have no opportunity to work on him this Summer as he wiil return to Downs just in time to go to Canada for a few weeks fishing and then to K U. I had John Ise talk to him the night of the Dowms Hi Alumni banquet and John was very well impressed with the lad. He told Vance a lot about the School and why he liked it so well and also that he much preferred students to athletes but if an athlete was a good one they were all right as such things go. Prof. John being handicapped ali his life still resents the active chaps just a little | much as he trys not to. At that John Ise is .a pretty good old boy and really believes most of what he says. We folks out here have always liked all of the Ise family. Vance's address in case you should wish to drop him a line this Summer is ; Vance Hall C/O W.D.Owen, Route # 1, Claude, texas. With kindest personal regards, I am, Sincerely Yours, 4
