Dear Dr. Allen:

I am writing you in regard to Vance Hall, who
graduates this spring.

Vance was greatly impressed by his visit to the
University with Bill Harrison. He is very anxious to
attend college but is doubtful as to whether he will
have financial support.

I am wondering if you could give me an estimate
of how much money he will need from home, also approx-
imately how much he will be able to earn while in
school.

I realize that the particular type of course one
selects will largely determine the number of hours
one will have in which to do outside work.

Vance would like to major in Physical Education.
I realize there is no tuition at a State University,
put at the same time there are a number of fees which
must be paid and these are in some instances equivalent
to tuition.

I am planning to bring some boys to Lawrence to
the Relays and if you should have a few minutes at that
time, I should like very much an opportunity to talk
