Dear Dr. AlleH: Thank you very much for your letter of the 27th instant in regard to our student and athlete, Harold Wright. I gave Harold the information that same evening and he seemed much happier than he has for some time. His situation is rather unusual. He is the son of parents who, though they have never been wealthy, have had a nice income and have been good spenders. Having lost this income and most of the little property they had accumulated, and having been relegated to the rank of "relief workers" has been hard on their pride and more so on Harold's than any other member of the family, I believe. He had practi- cally given up the intention of going on to school, I believe, and that would have been unfortunate for him for he is an excellent student and remaining in the en- vironment in which he would fine himself here after graduating from high school, would not be very elevating. Now he is looking for employment for the summer and I do hope he can find enough to enable himeto get started. I'm certain that if he does get started and you get to work with him some in basketball, Dr. Allen, you'll agree with me that he has great possibilities in that sport. And you'll never find a more sincere or cooperative person to work with. But the purpose of this letter was to thank you. loam 20 tmcerested in this boy that it is difficult for me to write concerning him without becoming a trifle verbose.
