I have already advised our basketball coaches with the time of meeting with the Big Six coaches. We, undoubted- ly, will meet on Friday night before also. In connection with the clinic on Saturday after- noon, would it be possible to have that in Kansas City? How ebout Rockhurst College--do they have a gym that would be available--or one of the local high schools? As soon as you have perfected the plans, I wish you would let me know as I again would like to write our basketball coaches. I shall be more than pleased to take part in your program on Saturday afternoon. At least, I don't know of any conflicts which would not permit me to do that, since our directors and faculty representatives should be finished with all of their business. Allen, K.U. Dear Dr. Allen - Just now received your answer to my inquiry regarding bringing our boys to your game. We certainly appreciate your giving us this rate. Our demonstration consists in dribbling races, Passing, drills, etc. We usually end up by letting two squads oppese each other in a three or four minutegame, as the spectators seem to expect it. We appeared before the Washburn crowd a time or two last year, ‘ntie before Toveka High, and several times before suburban high schools, Since you are having the clinic Saturday this might be a good between halves anes: I dont feel like asking you to call off anything you have vlanned, but I am sure the boys will enjoy doing it and we have always found that the crowd enjoys it. We will be down to one or the other of your games, very likely the Saturday evening game, since I have not made arrangements for transportation while waiting for your answer, If however I cane get plenty of cars we will be down tomorrow night. In case you need to know before hand about our coming call’me at 22990, Topeka and I will pay the cost of the call. ( Home phone after 5:30, 7176 ) Thank you very much for your courtesy. W. Gates. F.C. ALIGN, Lawrence. “Dear Dr. Allen - | With the financial support of the Topeka Optimist Club in the matter of suits, equipment, etc., I am sponsoring for the fifth and sixth grade boys of the school here a basket bakh league. Since we rather look upon K.U. as the basket bakk capital of this section of the country I am anxious to have them see your team in action as an inspiration for our work here. Last year I took my car full of boys on several occasions and they enjoyed the trips immensely. This year I want to bring the entire club of some 50 boys to one of your games, providing transportation can be taken care of. Since your freshman - varsity contest will probably leave you more seats than a regular game, I am taking the rather bold step of asking you for a snecial price for this group of boys for this game which I understand will be the 29th of Nov. If you care for a special feature bet anion halves of this game and do not have one arranged, I will be wery happy to have some of the boys put on a demonstration which I believe your audience will enjoy. I think you will find it somewhat more entertaining than the average basketball work for boys of this age.
