December 24, 1941. Mr. Tom Van Cleave, &r., Commerce ese Kansas City, Kansas. Dear Tor: I em sending you in confidence correspondence regarding en injury to Marvin Sollenberger. He is my reguler guard and an honor student in the Sehool of Engineering. Prankly, I think they will pay this bill. But I am writ~ ing some things to Gwinn Henry which can be passed on to Karl Kloog and the members of the Finance Cormittee. I think it is en outrageous indictment on any system that would not take care of a bill like this without causing a lot of hard feelings aa @ result of the “buck passing" that seems to go on here constant- ly. The Director of Athletics can ok. any bill up to one hund- red dollers for payment, but the reason given for not o.k.ing the bill is that the director is afraid the Finance Committee will turn him down on some of his o-ke's. Well, you imow what I think about a fellow who is afraid of meeting situations. : Please keep this in confidence as I om gure that the matter will be adjudicated. | I had @ talk with Karl Klooz and he stated that the Finance Committee did not pass on it because it was the business of the Director of Athletics to either approve or disapprove a bill and then send it on to the Finance Committees. Be that as it may, I em writing the letter to Gwinn Henry and sending a carbon copy to each member of the Finance Committee as well as to the chair- man of the board, Dr. We W. Davis. : With all good wishes for a Merry Christmas and | a Happy New Year, I am Very sincerely yours, | Director of Physical Education and Recreation, FCA:AH Varsity Basketball Coach.
